Carla Caponegro, PhD is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Rutgers Writing Program, English Department at Rutgers University–New Brunswick, where she also served as Director of the Plangere Writing Center. She holds a PhD and MA in French and Italian from Princeton University and a BA in French from Rutgers University.

Her teaching and scholarship bridge composition studies, writing center pedagogy, and language, literature, and culture. Her academic interests include multimodal and digital composition, translingual pedagogy, visual rhetoric, linguistic justice, generative AI in writing instruction, and early modern French literature and cultural studies. She has taught extensively in writing and composition, graduate academic communication, and language and culture at Rutgers, Princeton University, The College of New Jersey, and Fordham University.

An engaged academic leader, Dr. Caponegro has held numerous service roles at Rutgers and regularly presents at national and regional conferences on writing pedagogy, writing centers, and interdisciplinary instruction. Her work reflects a sustained commitment to inclusive, innovative, and research-informed teaching across disciplines and languages.
